Jobs工作

When we say what people’s jobs are, we usually use a/an.当我们说人们的工作是什么时，我们通常使用 a/an。

He’s an architect.他是一名建筑师。
She’s a scientist.她是一位科学家。
My grandmother was a teacher.我的祖母是一名教师。

Singular nouns单数名词

Singular, countable nouns always have an article – a/an or the (or another determiner – my, your, this, that, etc.).单数、可数名词总是有冠词 – a/an 或 the（或另一个限定词 – my、your、this、that 等）。

We use a/an – the indefinite article – when we talk about something for the first time, or something that is part of a group or type.当我们第一次谈论某件事或某个群体或类型的一部分时，我们使用 a/an（不定冠词）。

I saw a good film yesterday.昨天我看了一部好电影。
Do you want a drink?你想喝一杯吗？

We use a when the word that follows it begins with a consonant sound. We use an when it’s followed by a vowel sound. This makes pronunciation easier.当后面的单词以辅音开头时，我们使用 a。当后面跟着元音时我们使用 an。这使得发音更容易。

She has a university degree.她拥有大学学位。
It took me an hour to get home.我花了一个小时才到家。

We use the – the definite article – when the listener already knows which thing we are talking about because it was mentioned before or because there’s only one of them.当听众已经知道我们在谈论哪件事时，我们使用定冠词，因为它之前已经提到过，或者因为只有其中一个。

I’m going to take the dog for a walk.我要带狗去散步。

Things in general一般事物

When we talk about things in general, we normally use a plural or uncountable noun with no article.当我们谈论一般事物时，我们通常使用复数或不可数名词，不带冠词。

Water freezes at 0°C.水在 0°C 时结冰。
Children need a lot of sleep.孩子们需要大量的睡眠。

Particular groups of things特定的事物组

When we talk about a particular group of things, we use the.当我们谈论一组特定的事物时，我们使用。
