Grammar explanation语法解释

A verb can be followed by another verb. The second one usually needs to change into the -ing form or the to + infinitive form. Which form you need depends on what the first verb is. 一个动词后面可以跟另一个动词。第二个通常需要改为-ing形式或to+不定式形式。您需要哪种形式取决于第一个动词是什么。

Verbs followed by the -ing form动词后跟 -ing 形式

When enjoy, admit and mind are followed by another verb, it must be in the -ing form. 当enjoy、accept和mind后面跟另一个动词时，它必须是-ing形式。

I enjoy travelling. 我喜欢旅行。
He admitted stealing the necklace. 他承认偷了项链。
I don’t mind waiting if you’re busy. 如果你很忙的话我不介意等一下。*

Other verbs in this group include avoid, can’t help, consider, dislike, feel like, finish, give up, miss, practise and suggest.该组中的其他动词包括避免、忍不住、考虑、不喜欢、感觉像、完成、放弃、错过、练习和建议。

Like and love can be followed by the -ing form and the to + infinitive form. They are both correct. Like 和 love 后面可以跟 -ing 形式和 to + 不定式形式。他们都是正确的。

Verbs followed by to + infinitive form动词后跟 to + 不定式形式

When want, learn and offer are followed by another verb, it must be in the to + infinitive form. 当want、learn和offer后面跟另一个动词时，必须采用to+不定式形式。

I want to speak to the manager. 我想和经理谈谈。
She’s learning to play the piano. 她正在学习弹钢琴。
He offered to help us wash up. 他主动提出帮我们洗漱。
