Grammar explanation语法解释

A reported question is when we tell someone what another person asked. To do this, we can use direct speech or indirect speech.报告问题是当我们告诉某人另一个人问的问题时。为此,我们可以使用直接引语或间接引语。

direct speech: ‘Do you like working in sales?’ he asked. 直接引语:“你喜欢销售工作吗?”他问。
indirect speech: He asked me if I liked working in sales. 间接引语:他问我是否喜欢从事销售工作。

In indirect speech, we change the question structure (e.g. Do you like) to a statement structure (e.g. I like).在间接引语中,我们将问题结构(例如,你喜欢吗)更改为陈述结构(例如,我喜欢)。

Yes/no questions是/否问题

  • He asked me if I was going to the Helsinki conference. 他问我是否要去参加赫尔辛基会议。

Questions with a question word-带有疑问词的疑问句

In what, where, why, who, when or how questions, we use the question word to report the question.在什么、哪里、为什么、谁、何时或如何的问题中,我们使用疑问词来报告问题。

‘What time does the train leave?’ “火车什么时候离开?”

  • He asked me what time the train left. 他问我火车几点出发。

‘Where did he go?’ “他去哪了?”

Reporting verbs-报告动词

The most common reporting verb for questions is ask, but we can also use verbs like enquire, want to know or wonder.最常见的表达问题的动词是“询问”,但我们也可以使用“询问”、“想知道”或“想知道”等动词。

‘Did you bring your passports?’ “你带护照了吗?”

  • She wanted to know if they’d brought their passports. 她想知道他们是否带了护照。

Offers, requests and suggestions-报价、请求和建议

If the question is making an offer, request or suggestion, we can use a specific verb pattern instead, for example offer + infinitive, ask + infinitive or suggest + ing.如果问题是提出要约、请求或建议,我们可以使用特定的动词模式,例如 Offer + 不定式、ask + 不定式或 suggest + ing。

‘Would you like me to help you?’ “你想要我帮助你吗?”

  • He offered to help me. 他主动提出要帮助我。

‘Why don’t we check with Joel?’ “我们为什么不问问乔尔呢?”
